BCI's mission is to facilitate greater citizens’ participation in governance. 

BCI is an international development consultancy working to provide greater opportunities for citizens’ participation in governance and governance decision-making. We aim to do this by supporting collaborative research and knowledge development/sharing as well as supporting sustainable social and economic empowerment. BCI was founded on 2 November 2022 to support the reduction of poverty globally, enhance greater citizens’ participation in governance as well as advocate for justice and equality across the world. We offer technical services which include research, training, programme design, monitoring and evaluation, policy development and analysis in areas of public policy, civic participation, public health, migration, land and rural livelihoods. BCI adopts a multidisciplinary approach to address issues and collaboration with partners from across every sector. BCI was founded by Fidel Budy an activist, academic and international development expert. His commitment to greater participation of rural, and all citizens, in governance decision-making was influenced by his research experience and years of working within other similar rural African contexts. 

BCI intends to work with governments, multilateral and bilateral aid agencies as well as NGOs to promote greater involvement of ordinary people in everyday decision-making that influences their lived experiences. This will also focus on empowerment of women and girls into governance roles as well as develop relationships with similar organisations to further change to foster democracy, economic empowerment and poverty reduction.

BCI is a non-for-profit company limited by guarantee in the UK. The company has two co-directors. BCI hopes to grow its staff in the coming years and will promote autonomous working based on respect and shared commitment to the organisation’s vision.
